Winter readiness for your Pupp

Well it's that time of year again my friends! The cold weather is coming and your pupper-duppers needs some new clothes! There are many short haired dogs that need just a little extra help in certain areas of the world. I live in South Dakota, therefore, my Boston Terrier will often times need a little jacket to get him through going to the bathroom outside.

Fortunately for me, my pooch loves to wear clothes! He also loves to be swaddled. He likes sweaters, sweatshirts, costumes, you name it! I find it super cute and fun that he has a personality that is so similar to my own. We just recently got a new Boston named Charlie that I have mentioned on previous posts. I am curious to see if he loves wearing clothes just as Odie does.

You can find clothes almost anywhere. Sometimes I have gotten them at Walmart while I'm doing my grocery shopping. However, we love Amazon! I can never say enough good things about it due to it's quality of service and large variety of products that they have available to their consumers. I think you should check out the different styles and sizes of clothing options for your dog. I have provided a link for the little sweater vest below. The boston in the pic looks just like my little Odie too...so cute!

You absolutely don't have to stop at sweater vests. A lot of the times when there is a large amount of snow and ice on the ground it's super handy to get your dog some socks or shoes. I have a really fantastic video of trying out socks on my dog. At first, it he couldn't even walk! It was so cute and so fun and we laughed so hard. But he got through it! It did save his little paws. Another thing that you can do is get a little vaseline and put them on his paws before going out to use the restroom. I have found that keeps a small barrier of protection on the pads of their little feet. And I do believe that almost all of us have a little bit of that lying around.

On a side note, some dogs love the taste of vaseline or hate the way it feels so much that they often times just lick it off. Definitely try all different options available to you! Not all dogs are going to lick it off for sure. It's quite possibly a personality thing and a comfort or sensitivity issue for them. A little bit of wax on there probably wouldn't hurt. I make my own hair wax that uses all natural ingredients that I think would really be something helpful for the paw pads. It creates a stronger barrier and is more difficult to lick off as well as it really helps to keep the paw pads moisturized and protected from the elements.
