How to Plaster Cast a Paw Print

Tis the season my Pupper Peoples!! All that mud is a sign of spring and filth and dirt...why not do something fun with it?! I found a high-quality paw print in the very wet mud in my backyard. (Dry dirt is still a good option for casts, I just like the pliability of mud) I decided I wanted to do a plaster cast of it.The picture below is my final product. However, there is still so much that can be done with this little guy. He can be painted, set in another mold to make more molds, set in epoxy to make coasters or other inlays for a pupper box...the sky is the limit! Supplies: Plaster of Paris A measuring cup A mixing bowl Stir stick Mold or barrier for your mold(I used a tape roll but a cookie cutter would be so fun) Old toothbrush Butter knife or other carving device You wanna be pretty prepared and work fairly quickly since plaster sets up right away. First, center your ring or cookie cutter or whatever you want around the print. Just make sure there's ple...

Bone Broth for Your Pup

Do you have a fur-baby that has skin issues or other allergies? Welcome to the club! There seems to be a growing epidemic of pets out there that are more susceptible to allergies, skin conditions, tumors etc than there ever was before. Because, there is so little of this seen naturally out in the wild, I strongly feel as though it's a part of domestication. Something that we found with our Bostons, that’s a running trend, is that they often don’t have thick, shiny hair naturally. Some of that is definitely dog food and what they put into their system...and if they are a newborn, what their mother ate or her overall health. When our little Odie was a puppy, his skin was pink and his fur was thinner and finer, so it was easy to see the irritated skin underneath. He also had giardia when we first got him which is an intestinal parasite. So, we did have to clean his system of that. However, the skin issues persisted. Fortunately, I was doing a Dr. Axe protocol for healing my gut...

Is it Sunny in your puppy family?

So we got a new puppy. "What the heck?!", you say. I totally agree with you. A 2 dog and 2 cat family was definitely enough for our home. BUT, this poor puppy was discarded in the local mall parking lot by a lady who could no longer have a puppy in her apartment. We aren't going to go into all of the wrongs that that lady did by finding a stranger (my daughter) to take care of her puppy that she wasn't ready for. However, we ARE going to talk about what a person could do if they chose to have a puppy in an apartment. Sunny with all of his cuteness! Firstly, a good, stinking introduction to our new family member is definitely a requirement. Sunny is our new Puggle and what a doll. Happy and playful with the other dogs and of course, a huge and welcome handful! He looks great in T-shirts and is almost always finding a reason to stick his tongue out! I made him an AWESOME red, striped sweater out of the sleeve of my sock monkey footy pajamas...he is THAT littl...

Winter readiness for your Pupp

Well it's that time of year again my friends! The cold weather is coming and your pupper-duppers needs some new clothes! There are many short haired dogs that need just a little extra help in certain areas of the world. I live in South Dakota, therefore, my Boston Terrier will often times need a little jacket to get him through going to the bathroom outside. Fortunately for me, my pooch loves to wear clothes! He also loves to be swaddled. He likes sweaters, sweatshirts, costumes, you name it! I find it super cute and fun that he has a personality that is so similar to my own. We just recently got a new Boston named Charlie that I have mentioned on previous posts. I am curious to see if he loves wearing clothes just as Odie does. You can find clothes almost anywhere. Sometimes I have gotten them at Walmart while I'm doing my grocery shopping. However, we love Amazon! I can never say enough good things about it due to it's quality of service and large variety of products ...

#dogtraining

Have you ever brought a dog home from the Humane Society only to find out it's been to 3 homes, is at least 4 years old, and has never learned some of the basic commands? Well, that is sort of what I had to deal with with our new pupper-duppers, Charlie. When we brought Charlie home, we realized right away he was only partially potty trained at 4 years old. Do you remember the old adage where they had said you can't teach an old dog new tricks? I really knew I had a handful of a problem in front of me. And I hate to admit this, but I had considered returning him. I have had pets where it was incredibly hard to potty train them when they were at the ripe age for doing so. I decided that after three homes I didn't want to be the 4th. Plus, Charlie had so many positive qualities that he was worth it. So, I did whatever I could to find the most effective tips and techniques that would be the most beneficial for an older dog of Charlie's age. I noticed an imm...
